Dr Victoria Mellish

Oral Surgery Update

Practical changes to the Oral Surgery specialty are few and far between for the general dentist; the virtual forceps are yet to be designed.  However, there have been major advances in patient medications, some of which greatly increase the risk of complications for dental extractions.  Dr Mellish will review the tangible details of the literature regarding medication related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) and the novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) and relate them to the general dentist.  Leaving this CPD session you will feel more confident in your approach to managing patient’s medical history, feeling reassured in your ability to treatment plan effectively, thus preventing complications.
